Another tradition in Hawaii is the Obon Dance Festival. Brought to Hawaii by Japanese immigrants, this social and cultural event is designed to honor ancestors through an evening of dance, music and merry-making. Obon events are held throughout the island; July 5^th Lahaina Jodu Mission, July 11^th Paia Mantokuji Soto Mission, July 18^th Kahului Hongwanji and July 25^th Makawao Hongwanji.
